About the Journal

Journal of Social Transformation and Community Engagement (JSTCE) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to community engagement and social transformation. First published in 2026, the journal is issued twice a year, in August and February, and is published in electronic (online) format through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. JSTCE serves as an academic forum for researchers, lecturers, community practitioners, development professionals, policymakers, non-governmental organizations, and community organizations to disseminate original research, community engagement studies, participatory research, and evidence-based practices that contribute to community empowerment and sustainable social transformation.

The journal focuses specifically on community engagement, community empowerment, and social transformation, encompassing studies on community-based development, participatory action research (PAR), Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), social innovation, community capacity building, social entrepreneurship, digital community empowerment, education and literacy for community development, local wisdom and cultural preservation, inclusive and sustainable development, environmental sustainability, community health and well-being, youth and women's empowerment, social resilience, poverty reduction, livelihood development, and community-based approaches to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). JSTCE encourages interdisciplinary research that integrates academic knowledge with community participation, local assets, social innovation, and evidence-based interventions to address complex social challenges and promote sustainable and inclusive transformation.

JSTCE particularly welcomes studies that demonstrate meaningful community participation, measurable outcomes, community ownership, sustainability, and broader social impact. The journal encourages research and engagement models that position communities not merely as beneficiaries but as active partners in identifying problems, developing solutions, implementing interventions, and evaluating social change. Through this focus, JSTCE seeks to strengthen the connection between scholarly knowledge and community practice and to contribute to the development of resilient, empowered, and sustainable communities.
